Rising from Setbacks: Turning Failures into Success
Hello, Courageous Friend,
Have you ever imagined a journey filled with lessons learned and opportunities seized, where failures transform into stepping stones and the past no longer holds you back?
This year my focus word is "BOLD," and it's been the North Star of my mindset-shifting journey this year.
I have no regrets about the big, bold, scary, and exciting opportunities I've embraced along the way.
One particular opportunity that I pursued ended up being what some might call a "failure," but I prefer to see it as my "first attempt." I applied to speak at TEDx TALK - Spokane in May. This was a bold decision that left me feeling as though I had symbolically set my hair on fire.
In May, the verdict arrived in the form of a rejection letter for this year's event. Surprisingly, I felt a twinge of relief, no longer burdened by the extensive work required to refine my speech to meet the exacting standards of a TEDx Talk presentation.
Nevertheless, it is a testament to the mindset shift that has allowed me to believe in myself and bet on my potential.
I’m sharing this rejection letter with you because I believe that vulnerability is a source of strength. It's a reminder that setbacks, though initially disappointing, can pave the way for personal growth and resilience.
But the story doesn't end there.
Without a second thought about the setback, my dear friend and I purchased tickets to attend the TEDx Talk event in Spokane.
We turned it into a delightful overnight road trip, complete with shopping, quality time, and the chance to reconnect.
To my surprise, two acquaintances of mine who had previously spoken on the TEDx Talk Spokane stage were also in attendance, creating a memorable and heartwarming experience.
And speaking of surprises, I've got one more gem to share.
This journey led us to uncover a charming coffee shop in downtown Spokane. The atmosphere was inviting, the coffee was excellent, and the overall vibe was energizing. It turned out to be a perfect spot to share a coffee, and conversation, and welcome a local Spokane girlfriend to join us.
If you are in Spokane and you are looking for a new coffeehouse experience, try out this new gem:
The moral of this story?
