Showing Up for Yourself: Igniting Energy and Joy

Hello Radiant and Fabulous Friend!

Yesterday marked a turning point for me.

I resolved to shake off the persistent illness that had kept me down for the past week.

It occurred to me that by proclaiming my good health and manifesting positive energy, I could steer my day toward fun and joy.

Besides, it was “Plaid Friday” and I was excited to engage in the downtown festivities (admittedly, shopping was part of the plan).

Glancing in the mirror, I felt like I was back in my groove, a full 100%.

By choosing to show up for yourself, you consciously commit to self-care.

Yet, a small hurdle appeared in my path: I didn’t own any plaid clothing.

No worries, though.  My husband Tom had a couple of plaid shirts I could borrow.  Surely, he wouldn’t mind if I borrowed one and made it my own for the day.  Would he?

As I drove off to partake in the downtown “Plaid Friday” shopping extravaganza, I was already anticipating the fun that was awaiting me.  (Cue the holiday music blasting in the car!)

Brimming with energy and a festive spirit, I was thrilled to be heading towards the source of the local holiday buzz.

Do you see what I did here?

I made a deliberate choice to “show up for myself”.

It would have been simpler to convince myself that I lacked the energy to prep like I did to enjoy the day.

The day would have unfolded much like the ones before it.  But I changed my perspective and mindset, reaping positive benefits.  Whenever I give myself a push, it typically ends up being a reward.

As evidenced in this picture below, I radiated happiness when I returned home – so much so that my husband captured the moment, albeit in his shirt!

I had to get creative, tying it at my waist, rolling up the cuffs, layering a shirt underneath, and throwing on a vest. But it worked splendidly.  It was an opportunity for some creative flair.

Looking back, I could have even rummaged for a plaid ribbon to tie in my hair or onto my purse.

The real fun begins when we seize spontaneity, use creativity to boost experiences, and instill a belief that the journey will be enjoyable.

Embracing spontaneity and infusing creativity into our experiences adds an exhilarating touch. Grant yourself the ability to amplify your joy instead of relying on others to bring it to you.

Reflect on a time when you consciously prioritized self-care.

I’d love to hear about a day when your deliberate focus on yourself yielded extra energy and positivity.

Amidst the hustle of daily life, balancing work, family, and obligations, placing ourselves at the forefront often presents a challenge.

Time slips away if we don't make a conscious effort to claim it. This emphasizes the vital need to carve out dedicated time for yourself.

If you don't designate a specific time for self-care, the demands of others can easily consume your day.

Many women think this is being selfish.  It’s quite the opposite.  Allocating time for yourself enhances not only your joy but also your ability to give energy to others. Your loved ones will notice the positive change in your presence and will encourage you to keep investing in yourself.

Can you remember a time when your planned “me time” was interrupted?

How did it affect your mood?

I've noticed that when my priority—my own rejuvenation—is sidelined, it often leads me to feel slightly irritable and less engaged.

Take a proactive step to prioritize time dedicated solely to yourself.

What steps will you take this week to recharge and enhance your well-being?

I'm eager to learn about the strategies you're embracing as you head into one of the busiest months of the year.

If you've already cultivated a healthy self-care routine, well done! For those embarking on this new path this week, you're about to embark on an exciting journey!

To Your Positive Energy,

Wendy
